Instructions:
Step 1: Using a transfer pencil trace over the lines on your chosen design. Iron design onto the wool felt square face down. Any lettering must be done in reverse.

Step 2: Place the wool felt over the foam block/brush, then take a portion of red wool and stretch it into a long piece approximately 1cm wide. Position this on the design on the wool felt square. This will be the outline colour for the project.
Start to work the red wool into the felt by pushing the needle gently in and out of the wool.
You will notice the wool begins to bind into the piece of felt. The more you needle the wool, the stronger the adhesion and better the result.

Step 3: Using an assortment of desired colours continue felting inside each of the outlined sections. For added texture or dimension, you can felt the wool in a circular pattern rather than straight inside the lines.

Step 4: Once the design has been completely felted to finish it can be framed, incorporated as a feature panel in a bag, sewn to a cushion, made into a lampshade or included in a garment.
Hints:
Do not work too fast as the needle is likely to break if it is pushed or pulled on an angle. You can increase the thickness of any line by adding or laying another piece of wool over an existing one and needling. This will intensify that line depth. Small features can be added into a design by needling over the top of an existing colour.
